German watch brand A. Lange & Sohne has a rich history that dates backk to the 19th century. Its roots were plucked, though, when the brand was expropriated after World War II. It was Walter Lange, the great-grandson of the original brand founder, Ferdinand Adolph Lange, who brought the brand back to life in the early 1990’s with the help of watch industry veteran Gunter Blümlein. Today, the brand is one of the most sought-after by collectors. Established in the Saxony region of Germany, A. Lange & Sohne has developed 65 mechanical calibers to date and offers a host of beloved collections, including the Lange 1, the Zeitwerk and more.
