IWC Ingenieur Automatic 35 Pool Blue
When IWC reintroduced the Ingenieur collection in 2023, it wasn’t simply reviving an iconic watch—it was bringing back one of Gérald Genta’s most celebrated designs. I was fortunate enough to be there for the relaunch, and I remember being genuinely excited to see the collection return with so much respect for its Genta-designed roots while still feeling completely contemporary. Since then, the Ingenieur has become iconic all over again, with virtually every new iteration quickly finding an enthusiastic audience among collectors. Now a Pool Blue version joins the ranks.
So alluring is this new color with its bright aquatic summery dial that English and American actor Andrew Garfield was recently spotted wearing the IWC Ingenieur Automatic 35 (Ref. IW324902) Pool Blue while attending day six of the 2026 Wimbledon Tennis Championships at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club on July 4th, 2026.

Actor Andrew Garfield was spotted wearing the new Ingenieur Pool Blue over the 4th of July weekend.
The newest Ingenieur Automatic 35 is housed in the familiar 35mm stainless steel case with its integrated bracelet, a size that has broadened the appeal of the collection to those who prefer more compact proportions without sacrificing the bold presence that has defined the Ingenieur for decades. The signature bezel, secured by five functional screws, the integrated bracelet and the embossed “Grid” dial pattern all remain, allowing the new color to become the star of the show.
According to Christian Knoop, Creative Director at IWC Schaffhausen, the Pool dial was conceived as “a fresh, radiant aquatic shade that feels made for summer,” adding that it captures light beautifully while complementing the clean lines of the Genta-inspired design.

That play with light extends throughout the watch. Satin-finished and polished surfaces alternate across the case, bezel and bracelet, while polished center links contrast with satin-finished H-links to create depth and visual interest from every angle. Turn the watch over and a sapphire caseback reveals IWC’s automatic Caliber 47110, finished with Geneva stripes, circular graining and a gold-plated oscillating weight. The movement offers a 42-hour power reserve.
The new Pool version also marks another step in the rapid expansion of the Ingenieur Automatic 35 collection. Introduced only last year, the line now spans six references in stainless steel and gold, including silver-plated, black, deep blue and gold-colored dials, as well as a diamond-set gold edition.

The IWC Ingenieur Automatic 35 Pool Blue is powered by the Caliber 47110 automatic movement.
For me, though, the story is bigger than another color. It is further proof that IWC got the relaunch right. Three years after its return, the Ingenieur holds a spot among today’s most sought-after luxury sports watches. It retails for $11,200.
