Yesterday was the National Day of the country of Singapore, sometimes called the Lion City. To honor the history and beauty of the city, Swiss watch brand Louis Moinet, in partnership with Wealth Solutions, unveiled an exclusive limited edition Singapore watch. Offered in an edition of 19 pieces in rose gold and 65 pieces in stainless steel Neo cases (19 and 65 signify the year of Singapore’s independence) — for a total of 84 watches — the new Swiss-made mechanical watch is fully decorated to the highest standards with a host of references to the city and symbols of Singapore.
Powered by an in-house made LM45 automatic movement beating at 4Hz, the first piece — unveiled yesterday in Singapore in cooperation with the Singapore Watch Club — offers a stunning view of the Singapore skyline. Among the characteristic buildings that are meticuloulsy engraved on the dial are the Marina Bay Sands Hotel, Gardens by the Bay an the Singapore Flyer. Above the skyline, the moon and five small stars is depicted as a reference to the Singapore flag. Via a dial aperture on the left side of the dial, a portion of the movement is visible. The subsidiary seconds dial at 9:00 features a smoky sapphire dial for viewing of the movement, as well. The rotor of the watch is decorated with a concentric emulation of the Clou de Paris motif. The 18-karat rose gold version retails for CHF 48,000; the steel watch retails for CHF 22,000.
This is not the first time the fully independent Swiss watch brand has partnered with Wealth Solutions, a Polish company that specializes in procuring, creating and delivery unique collector items. The two teamed up earlier this year to unveil the Whiskey Watch — a Louis Moinet timepiece with rare Old Vatted Glenlivet 1862 sealed inside. Wealth Solutions has created several other “spirit” watches, as well.
Louis Moinet is based in Neufchatel and was founded in 2004 to honor esteemed 18th century watchmaker Louis Moinet (1768-1853) — who was the inventor of the chronograph in 1816. That chronograph distinction is certified by the Guinness World Records(TM). The brand continues to create timepieces that honor Louis Moinet’s life, and in addition to superb chronographs and complications, Louis Moinet offers an elevated level of artistic elegance in its timepieces, paying tribute to the fact that the founding gather was also a painter, sculptor and teacher of Fine Arts.
