So every once in a while, we cover topics outside of the realm of watches — lifestyle topics like spirits, art, cars, yachting, accessories and even jewelry. Today, we look at the beauty of jewelry as seen through the eyes of the conservation minded and those interested in recycling and sustainability. Rebecca Jewelry, Italian brand with roots in Florence, has been creating fashion-forward bronze jewelry for years. Now, the brand unveils its Brame Collection that is made of bronze with 24-karat gold plating — and boasts stunning recycled ocean waste as its colorful jewels.
Approximately 8 million tons of plastic end up in the sea every year, with 53,000 tons in the Mediterranean Sea alone. “Rebecca’s Mediterranean soul wants to contribute to recycling plastic [by] transforming it from waste to jewelry. The plastic waste abandoned on our beaches and seas show different colors: bottles, containers, and cans. First, they are all fused together in an innovative and 100% Italian process, then they are worked with the same technologies used for precious metals.”
The colorful polymer offers artistic takes on gems, with each one being unique in that its formulation depends on the waste from which they were made and the random dynamics of how they were fused together. Add the baroque styling of Rebecca’s beloved jewelry and the final result is both alluring and highly contemporary.
Brame is a collection for the woman who wants to stand out in crowd thanks to her style and do so with passion. In fact, the term translates to desire, longing, and passion.
The jewelry in this series ranges in price from about $129. to $299 depending on the style. Motifs are all marine inspired and some boast shells and mirrors, as well.
