Parmigiani Fleurier Carillon Tourbillon is part of the Objet D’ Arts collection.
I was there 30 years ago when Michel Parmigiani launched his eponymous watch brand. Backed by the Sandoz Family Foundation, Michel Parmigiani, recognized as one of Switzerland’s most respected restorers and master watchmakers, set out to build a manufacture dedicated to harmony, balance and technical excellence.
Over the decades, I’ve watched the brand evolve, sometimes almost too quietly, introducing important innovations and even world-first achievements without much fanfare. This year, however, Parmigiani Fleurier is making a statement worthy of its milestone anniversary with the new Carillon Tourbillon — a watch I admit I may be slightly obsessed with.

A closer look at the tourbillon escapement visible via the case back.
Created to mark the Maison’s 30th anniversary, the Carillon Tourbillon is not simply another grand complication. It is perhaps the most complete expression yet of the philosophy that has guided Michel Parmigiani from the beginning: understanding the past in order to create the future.
Part of the brand’s Oject d’ Arts collection and inspired by an early 19th-century Perrin Frères pocket watch from the Sandoz Collection that Parmigiani restored in 2000, the Tourbillon Carillon watch transforms lessons learned through restoration into a thoroughly contemporary work of haute horology.
Limited to just five pieces worldwide, the manually wound Carillon Tourbillon houses the new Caliber PF950, a movement composed of 456 components and featuring a minute repeater carillon with four gongs and a 60-second tourbillon.

A closer look shows the fluted gongs coiled around the outer edge of the dial.
Unlike traditional repeaters that use two gongs, the four-gong construction creates a richer four-note melody for hours, quarters and minutes. The movement is engineered with separate power sources for timekeeping and chiming functions, ensuring consistent acoustic performance while still delivering an impressive 12-day power reserve.
What captivates me most, though, is not the technical specifications alone. It is the visual beauty of the watch. Beneath a domed sapphire crystal, four serpentine gongs are visible on the outer edge of the watch, surrounding the dial like sculptural elements. Their shape is directly inspired by the historic pocket watch that sparked the project, creating a tangible connection between restoration and modern watchmaking.

The Parmigiani Fleurier Carillon Tourbillon 30th anniversary piece is inspired by this Ferres Perrin pocket watch.
The hand-hammered Morning Blue dial, crafted in white gold, provides a striking backdrop, especially with the hammers visible. The tourbillon escapement, meanwhile, remains hidden on the reverse side — a very Parmigiani Fleurier touch. This is a brand that has never believed in showing off for the sake of showing off. The complication reveals itself slowly, rewarding those willing to spend time with the watch.
Thirty years after its founding, Parmigiani Fleurier continues to chart its own path. The Carillon Tourbillon reminds us of Michel Parmigiani’s belief that true innovation begins with understanding what came before and perfecting it.

The movement of the Parmigiani Fleurier Carillon Tourbillon 30th anniversary watch consists of 460 parts.
