TAG Heuer Solar-Powered Formula 1 Watch For Indy 500
There are car related watches, and then there are watches that actually feel like race day. TAG Heuer’s new Formula 1 Solargraph X Indy 500 lands squarely in the second category, arriving just in time for one of motorsport’s most adrenaline-fueled weekends. Indy 500 takes place on May 24, 2026 and promises — as always — to bring the excitement. As does the Solargraph.
TAG Heuer has long been intertwined with speed, split-seconds, and podium moments, but this latest release shifts gears with a fresh, modern take on its racing DNA. Designed in honor of the legendary Indianapolis 500, the watch captures the spirit of the famed oval while keeping one eye firmly on the future and on solar energy.

Just 1110 pieces of the TAG Heuer Formula 1 X Indy 500 will be made.
This is TAG Heuer’s 13th collaboration tied to the Indy 500, but it may be the most wearable yet. Sized at an easy 38mm, the stainless steel case feels contemporary and versatile—large enough for presence, compact enough for everyday comfort. It’s sporty without shouting, which makes it ideal whether you’re trackside in Indiana or making your Monday commute.
While it might seem odd that the brand is using a Formula 1 watch design for Indy 500, it isn’t so strange. After all, TAG Heuer has had longtime ties to the world of auto racing for decades — ranging back to the Pan Americana race and more. In fact, even the Formula 1 watch was introduced 40 years ago in 1986. I remember the first time I saw the collection at BaselWorld and I was surprised by the colorful and fun direction. This new version for Indy though, is decidedly toned down in brightness.
Maybe most interesting about it: the black dial gets a punch of contrast from a brown outer minute track, while the Indy 500 logo appears proudly on the dial and caseback. A brick motif references the famed Yard of Bricks—the historic strip at Indianapolis Motor Speedway kissed by winning drivers for generations. For race fans, it’s a meaningful nod. For everyone else, it simply looks cool.
The sandblasted steel case adds a rugged mechanical feel, while the lightweight black TH-Polylight bezel keeps the design unmistakably Formula 1. Add luminous markers, a red central seconds hand, and a steel bracelet with folding clasp, and you have a watch that balances utility with attitude.
Under the hood, the watch is powered by TAG Heuer’s Solargraph movement (Caliber TH50-00), that converts both natural and artificial light into energy. Just one minute in direct sunlight delivers enough charge for a full day. Fully charged, it can run up to ten months in darkness. If it stops, ten seconds of light gets it moving again. In an age obsessed with charging everything nightly, that kind of independence feels refreshing.
Limited to 1,110 pieces, the number is a clear wink to the Indy 500’s founding year: 1911. It retails in North America for $2,250.
