Patek Philippe Gondolo Serata Ref. 4962/200R Zebra
Patek Philippe revisits one of its most elegant shaped watches with the debut of the new Gondolo Serata Ref. 4962/200R “Zebra.” Incredibly refined and alluring, this latest addition to the Gondolo family underscores how central this collection has been to the Geneva manufacture’s creative expression. For decades, the Gondolo line has served as a canvas for Patek Philippe to demonstrate its mastery of form, proportion, and the decorative arts. The new Serata is no exception—a brilliant fusion of Art Deco poise and playful modernity.

The new 18-karat gold and gemstone-set Patek Philippe Gondolo Serata Ref. 4962/200R Zebra watch retails for $51,641.
First introduced in 2006, the Gondolo Serata has always stood apart for its feminine curves and evening-watch allure. The new version, rendered in polished rose gold, introduces an unexpected wilder side. Inspired by the 2022 Golden Ellipse “Zebra” from Patek’s Rare Handcrafts line, this model features a dazzling zebra motif engraved and lacquered on both sides of a sapphire crystal plate. Black metallization and white varnish create a striking sense of depth and motion, while applied rose gold Breguet numerals and slender leaf-shaped hands bring balance and grace to the dial.

Daring yet unmistakably Patek Philippe, the new Gondolo Serata “Zebra” captures the brand’s ability to merge artistic craft with technical finesse. But this is not a new concept for the brand. In fact, the Gondolo is easily one of Patek Philippe’s most diverse and historically rich collections.

Historically, the Gondolo collection is one of Patek Philippe’s most beloved.
Patek Philippe Gondolo History
With roots that trace back to the late 19th century, the origins of the Gondolo lie in a partnership between Patek Philippe and the Brazilian retailer Gondolo & Labouriau, whose exclusive relationship with the brand between 1872 and 1927 gave rise to the “Chronometro Gondolo” pocket watches—timepieces so coveted that they once accounted for nearly a third of Patek’s global sales. During Brazil’s belle époque, owning a Gondolo became a status symbol, and the retailer’s elite clientele even formed a social club known as the “Gondolo Gang,” celebrating their watches with picnics and the now-famous “Patek Waltz.”
By the 1920s, Patek Philippe had transformed the Gondolo into a series of exquisite wristwatches inspired by Art Deco geometry and modern elegance. The collection became a platform for the brand’s most distinctive shaped cases—from tonneau and cushion forms to feminine hourglass silhouettes. Over time, it evolved into a showcase for design ingenuity, influencing future creations like the Twenty~4 and many of Patek’s haute joaillerie pieces.
Today, the Gondolo collection remains an emblem of Patek Philippe’s creative independence. The new Gondolo Serata “Zebra” carries that legacy forward.
