The Indy 500 runs for the 101st year this year.
It’s an exciting day in American auto racing today, with the 101st Indy 500 taking place in Indianapolis today. As usual, TAG Heuer is there for this American institution as the Official Watch, Timepiece, Chronograph and sponsor of the Indianapolis 500 Race. In celebration of this famed Memorial Day weekend sport, TAG Heuer has also unveiled several new watches to celebrate the event and auto racing in general. Among them: a Formula One Chronograph and a new Heuer 01 tachymeter chronograph.

The new Indy 500 Caliber Heuer 01 Automatic Chronograph is being made in a numbered, limited edition of 101 pieces. The watch is naturally auto inspired and features a bold black ceramic tachymeter bezel with red “Indy 500” letters and red accents on the dial for the minutes chronograph counter and the lacquered chronograph hands.
The 45mm skeletonized watch is made of features a silver flange with 60-second/minute scales and a black gold-plated sunray brushed subdial at 9:00 for the seconds’ hand with a center Indy 500 logo. There is a date aperture at 3:30 on the dial. The automatic chronograph is finished with a thick padded leather strap in black with gray and red stitching for overall appeal. The caseback is black PVD steel with the Indy 500 logo stamped on it, and the number of the watch. Powered by the Caliber Heuer 01, the watch offers 50 hours o power reserve when the chronograph is not being used, and 40 hours when it is in use. It retails for $5,850.

Offering Indy 500 fans a more accessible option, TAG Heuer unveils the Formula 1 Chronograph 200 meters watch. Crafted in stainless steel with a steel bracelet, the 43mm chronograph features an anthracite dial with three subdials for the running seconds and the chronograph counters. Here again, red comes into play with accents on the subdials, as the hands and center seconds hand, and as the Indy 500 logo on the black bezel. The words TAG Heuer Formula 1 are printed on the dial, as well. A TAG Heuer quartz movement powers the watch, which is water resistant to 200 meters. The caseback is engraved with the Indy 500 logo and the number of the watch. This series is being made in an edition of 500 pieces. This version reals for $1,650.
