1924 Hispano-Suize H6C Nieuport-Astra Torpedo
Penny & Lee Anderson Sr – Naples, Florida
The 1924 Hispano-Suiza H6C Nieuport-Astra Torpedo was named Best of Show at this year’s Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance®, which concluded yesterday and is the centerpiece of a weeklong series of motoring events on the Monterey Peninsula. For nearly 30 years, Rolex has been a driving force behind these gatherings, serving as official timekeeper and awarding watches to the top winners.
Since first partnering with the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance® in 1997, Rolex has expanded its role across four major events: the Pebble Beach Tour d’Elegance® presented by Rolex, The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering, the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion, and the Concours itself. The Swiss watchmaker’s presence is marked not only by its clocks on display but also by the tradition of presenting engraved timepieces to winners.
This year, Penny and Lee Anderson, owners of the Best of Show Hispano-Suiza, received an engraved Rolex Perpetual 1908 in recognition of their two-year restoration project. Rolex Testimonee and nine-time Le Mans winner Tom Kristensen served as an Honorary Judge, praising the car for its authenticity and design: “To win Best of Show is an extraordinary achievement. The Hispano-Suiza is a truly deserving winner.”
At The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering, Rolex celebrated its 20th year as Official Timepiece. The 1996 Ferrari F50 GT1 was awarded the Rolex Best of Show title, and its owner, Art Zafiropoulo, was presented with an engraved Oyster Perpetual Datejust 36. The event, now in its 22nd edition, continues to highlight both historical models and cutting-edge designs.
The racing side of Monterey Car Week unfolded at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, where the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion featured vehicles spanning more than a century of motorsport history. Former Formula 1 World Champion and Rolex Testimonee Jenson Button served as Grand Marshal and also raced a 1996 Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint GT.

Earlier in the week, the Pebble Beach Tour d’Elegance® presented by Rolex brought 190 classic cars along a 65-mile coastal route through Big Sur and over Bixby Bridge. Since 2007, Rolex has been presenting partner of the Tour, which plays a key role in Concours judging.
Rolex’s involvement in Monterey Car Week reflects a broader history of supporting excellence in both sport and culture. From its pioneering waterproof Oyster watch released nearly a century ago to its long-standing partnerships in motorsport, golf, tennis and sailing, the brand has used these stages to highlight values of precision, endurance and innovation. Its three-decade presence at Pebble Beach places Rolex at the intersection of horology and automotive heritage, with each engraved watch awarded here serving as a reminder of that connection.
