Armin Strom Orbit Lime Green and Ice Blue
Earlier this year, Swiss independent brand Armin Strom quietly unveiled a world’s first: an on-demand pointer date watch that indicates the date on the bezel with the press of a pusher. That watch, the Orbit Purple, was a hit not only because of this innovation, but also because of its stunning purple dial. Now, the brand unveils the Orbit Lime Green and Orbit Ice Blue – both part of its System 78 series.

While the color is minimal – since it only graces the small inset dial located closer to 9:00 on the watch – it is visually arresting thanks to the fume’ gradient look. The center is bold and bright and then darkens to black at the outer edges. The offset dial enables a spectacular view of the complicated movement within — the brand’s Manufacture caliber ASS20 with 273 meticulously finished parts. The patented Equal Force barrel delivers consistent energy for 72 hours.

To operate the pointer date, the wearer pushes the button on the case side and a column-wheel mechanism engages the date display function – sending the pointer hand to the correct date on the outer bezel of the watch, which is crafted in black ceramic to complement the design. The date can stay engaged and active, changing automatically at midnight each day, or it can be disengaged with another press of the pusher. When not pointing to the date, the hand remains steady at 12:00.
Each of the new colorways of the 43.4mm automatic Orbit watch is made in a limited edition of just 20 pieces – crafted in stainless steel with stainless steel bracelet. They retail for $37,800.
