In its typical style, Hublot cements its role as a provocative and innovative brand with the release of the Big Bang MECA-10 Concrete Jungle New York City. A raw and unapologetically urban timepiece, the watch pays homage to the brand’s new boutique in the City that Never Sleeps and is a NYC exclusive (as well as online sales). This third entry in the “Concrete Jungle” series doesn’t just nod to New York City’s iconic skyline—it further underscores Hublot’s place in the long-evolving dialogue between Brutalist architecture and watchmaking.
While the intersection of concrete and horology still feels iconoclastic, the story began more than a dozen years ago. In 2012 and again in 2015, Girard-Perregaux released limited edition watches inspired by the visionary architect Le Corbusier, featuring actual concrete dials—a nod to the material’s defining role in 20th-century architecture. Their approach was restrained, fusing minimalism with material experimentation. A little misunderstood at the time, the watches nonetheless sold well and retained a space in watchmaking history.

Later, in 2016, independent Italian designer Giuliano Mazzuoli pushed the concept further with the Cemento, the first wristwatch to feature a case made entirely from cement. He said he was inspired by workers outside of his house who were mixing concrete for the sidewalks, and he wondered how the material would translate to a watch case. The thought and pursuit led to a rugged and unconventional timepiece with modern Italian styling.

Later that same year, Hublot entered the concrete conversation with its first Big Bang Concrete Jungle model—signaling that this Brutalist material had found a foothold in high-end watchmaking. The brand then followed up with a second concrete watch in 2020, the Classic Fusion Concrete Jungle.

Now, the Hublot Big Bang MECA-10 Concrete Jungle is by far the brand’s most audacious expression yet. The new limited-edition watch is encased entirely in matte concrete—a 44mm sculpture in grey, industrial elegance. The signature Hublot screws in polished and micro-blasted titanium punctuate the bezel, while a titanium caseback and crown (over molded in black rubber) lend structural contrast to the raw surface of the case.

At 15.3mm thick and water-resistant to 50 meters, the timepiece has both the presence and the physical resilience to mirror the endurance of the city it honors. It is powered by the HUB1201 movement, a skeletonized, manually wound caliber with a 10-day power reserve—visible through its symmetrical architecture and sculptural layout. Comprising 223 components, the movement boasts twin barrels, rack-and-pinion power reserve indicator (marked in red), and that definitive industrial-chic finishing.
For versatility, the watch includes two interchangeable straps: one in grey fabric with a Velcro fastener, the other in Hublot’s signature black lined rubber. These can be swapped effortlessly thanks to the brand’s One Click system. Each piece comes in a special presentation box featuring a stylized rendering of the New York City skyline, exclusive to this edition. It retails for $34,100.

The new Concrete Jungle aligns with the grand opening of Hublot’s relocated flagship boutique on Fifth Avenue. In fact, the watch is crafted in the same concrete as the façade of the Fifth Avenue store.
“Concrete has long been misunderstood as cold and industrial, but in the world of high design, it has become something else entirely — tactile, refined, even expressive. This timepiece captures the raw energy of New York and the meticulous precision of Swiss watchmaking,” said Julien Tornare, CEO of Hublot.
