Bulova Year of the Horse Super Seville watch
Yesterday, we brought you a Year of the Horse watch from another brand—and we’ll continue to do so in the coming weeks as watchmakers around the world mark the approach of the Lunar New Year, which officially begins on February 17, 2026. Today’s spotlight turns to Bulova, which makes its first-ever foray into Chinese Zodiac timepieces with the limited-edition Year of the Horse Super Seville.
For the quintessential New York City watch brand, the debut feels both timely and thoughtfully executed. Rather than simply adding a zodiac motif to an existing model, Bulova has leaned into artistry, symbolism, and technical credibility—hallmarks that have defined the brand for decades.

The Bulova Year of the Horse Super Seville watch retails for $895 and is made in a limited number of 888 pieces.
The Super Seville Year of the Horse immediately commands attention with its celebratory dial. Rendered in red and gold tones, the layered design features a dynamic, almost theatrical depiction of a rearing horse at its center. The animal appears mid-motion, muscles taut, mane flying—capturing the vitality, freedom, and perseverance associated with the Horse in Chinese culture. Floral accents not only surround the figure, but also adorn it — reinforcing themes of prosperity and renewal. The depiction also endows the dial with depth and movement, making it feel alive on the wrist.
Crafted in gold-tone stainless steel, the 1970s-inspired Super Seville silhouette is accented by a grooved coin-edge bezel that adds both texture and retro charm. Turning the watch over reveals an individually numbered caseback etched with the Chinese character for “horse,” a small but nice detail.
What we particularly like about this watch, in addition to the upbeat horse motif, is the vintage inspired look of the notched case and the three-row link bracelet. In gold tone it offsets and compliments the red and gold dial beautifully and offers a timelessness about it. The watch is produced in just 888 pieces, a deliberate nod to the number eight, which symbolizes fortune and good luck in Chinese tradition.

Powering the watch is Bulova’s proprietary Precisionist movement, an in-house, high-performance quartz caliber that sets the brand apart. Unlike standard quartz movements, the Precisionist vibrates at an extraordinary 262kHz, delivering exceptional accuracy—measured in seconds per year rather than per month—and enhanced resistance to temperature fluctuations. Visually, it’s defined by a smooth, sweeping seconds hand that mimics the elegance of mechanical timekeeping.
Retailing for $895, the Bulova Year of the Horse Super Seville offers a compelling blend of artistry, cultural respect, and technical prowess in quartz movements.
