Bulova Collaborates With Pop Artist Thiago Rosinhole For Lunar Pilot Timascus x Budii
Few watch brands can claim a heritage as deeply intertwined with American culture and innovation as Bulova. Since 1875, the New York-founded company has reflected the zeitgeist of each era—whether crafting timepieces for railroad conductors, astronauts, or jazz lovers. Marking its 150th anniversary this year, Bulova celebrates not just a milestone in longevity, but a living legacy of technical excellence and bold design. Its latest release, the Lunar Pilot Timascus (x Budii), encapsulates that ethos perfectly, honoring a pivotal moment in American space history while embracing a vibrant artistic future.

Bulova Collaborates With Pop Artist Thiago Rosinhole For Lunar Pilot Timascus x Budii limited edition watch.
This limited-edition watch is more than just a nod to the past; it’s a fusion of horological engineering and contemporary visual culture. Limited to 5,500 numbered pieces, the Lunar Pilot Timascus watch revisits Bulova’s famed Lunar Pilot Chronograph, the watch worn during the Apollo 15 mission in 1971. But this time, it does so through a compelling collaboration with Brazilian pop artist Thiago Rosinhole, known for his futuristic, expressive “Budii” astronaut motif.

The Timascus dial is made using layers of alloys that, when heated, change colors and patterns so that no two watch dials are the same.
Rosinhole‘s vibrant and playful take on futurism and space culture uses the “Budii” character—a wide-eyed, curious astronaut—as a recurring symbol of hope, exploration, and the human drive to dream. Budii has become an emblem of Rosinhole’s artistic universe, appearing in murals, sculptures, and now, for the first time, on a timepiece. The inclusion of Budii not only adds visual energy but also deepens the connection between past and future, evoking the awe of space travel with a pop-art twist.

Combining the iconic pop-art emblems, Bulova also blends sophisticated aesthetics into this commemorative edition. Each piece features a Timascus dial, a rare material created by layering titanium alloys and heat-treating them to reveal vivid, kaleidoscopic patterns. No two dials are the same, making each watch a true one-of-a-kind object.
The stainless-steel case back is engraved with Rosinhole’s Budii astronaut and text commemorating the Apollo 15 mission. At the core of the watch lies Bulova’s proprietary high-precision quartz movement, operating at 262kHz – a significant leap beyond the standard 32kHz frequency of conventional quartz watches. This ultra-high frequency allows for superior accuracy and enables the chronograph’s smooth sweeping second hand, giving the feel of a mechanical timepiece with the precision of quartz. The watch is sold in a specially designed collector’s box that includes a six-inch Budii figurine, reinforcing the creative synergy between artist and brand. It retails for $1,650.
