When Hublot bought the machinery and certain technical rights of BNB movement manufacturer over a year ago, along with bringing in some of its top watchmakers, the watch world waited with baited breath. What would be the next step? Obviously new movements from the now well-incorporated Hublot Manufacture. We saw the unveiling of a very limited edition tourbillon, then a minute repeater, then the UNICO column-wheel flyback chronograph movement produced entirely in house and featuring a silicon escapement, and retractable escapement platform (where the owner’s initials can be engraved).
Now, Hublot brings out the new UNICO King Power Chronograph with a bracelet – offering a bold look of power and luxury combined. While the initial rubber-strap version had urban appeal, this new model features an all-ceramic bracelet for futuristic appeal.
My thoughts: I love the ceramic bracelet. It’s cool, offers substance and has a truly unusual finish to it for a ceramic bracelet. Rubber is still viable, but ceramic puts you in an all new, way ahead-of-your time category. What do you think? Post a comment and let me know.
