Corum Admiral Legend 42 Full Black

In a bold and unprecedented move, Corum unveils a stealth black addition to its coveted Admiral 42 Legend collection. Never before has the brand released this timepiece in an all-black version. The brand has used black titanium (for its Golden Bridge) and blacked ruthenium (on a Coin watch), but doing an all black-on-black is a departure for the brand. Making the watch even more alluring is the fact that it is being created in a limited edition of just 100 pieces.

The first Admiral’s Cup watch created by Corum was introduced in the 1960’s, and has undergone a host of evolutions. In 1983, the brand went from a square case to the current 12-sided case. In fact, that year was the year that I entered the watch and jewelry market at National Jeweler Magazine and I remember the launch of the 12-sided case. It was an amazing feat and received a lot of recognition during the Basel Fair. Thanks to the highly distinguishable nautical pennants on the Admiral’s Cup watches, and the elegance of those first dodecagon cases, the Corum Admiral Cup  line became an immediate favorite in the sailing world. Today, it continues to hold the role of leading sailing and regatta watch, with a realm of wonderful new iterations making their way to market regularly.

Corum Admiral Legend 42 Full Black marks the first time the brand offers an all-black watch.

In fact, it was in 2010 that the Admiral Legend collection burst onto the scene. Now this new black Admiral Legend 42  Full Black watch is expected to capture the hearts of those who have a mysterious side. It is crafted in black PVD-treated stainless steel with a blackened brass dial. The nautical pennants and markers are presented in grayscale tones. The Dauphine-style hour and minute hands are skeletonized and filled with white superluminova to ensure legibility. The watch is finished with a vulcanized black rubber strap  with a black PVD-treated buckle. It is powered by the automatic CO 395 movement with 42 hours of power reserve, and is water resistance of 50 meters.  What may well be the best aspect of this decidedly cool and youthful watch is the price: $5,200.
