Up Close with the All-New Cle’ de Cartier Collection

 |  August 25th, 2015

Earlier this year at the SIHH in Geneva, Cartier made another unprecedented move. The brand introduced an all-new watch line: Cle’ de Cartier. It is the brand’s first new preconceived round shaped watch since the incredibly successful launch of the Ballon Bleu. The line, designed to be unisex, features an unusual crown meant to resemble a key more than a round crown. In fact, translated in French, the word Cle’ means key. Mind you, it is not a key resembling the conventional sense of the word, such as a key that opens a door or starts a car, but rather a key that is an instrumental feature of the watch. Instead of being a round fluted crown in the classic shape, the crown…

What Has 771 Parts, Retails for Just about $450,000 and Is Coming to Stores Very Soon? Up Close with the A. Lange & Sohne Zeitwerk Minute Repeater

 |  July 10th, 2015

By Gordon Henderson When A. Lange & Sohne launched the Zeitwerk line in 2009 and unveiled its digital display, the brand created an aesthetic that was something truly different from not only it’s other lines, but also from the high end watch community as a whole. The bold numbers that display the time via rings and disks instead of hands across the center of dial in a dominating and distinctive format laid the foundation for the brand to build different iterations of the iconic watch time and again. This year, A. Lange & Sohne announced the release of the Zeitwerk Minute Repeater – which is hitting stores very soon — and it is every bit as technical as it is…

Vacheron Constantin Unveils Harmony Cushion Collection in Celebration of 260 Years of Watchmaking

 |  June 8th, 2015

Vacheron Constantin is the only watch brand in the world that can claim 260 years of continuous production. It is a tribute the likes of which legends are made. This year, in honor of its 260 years, the brand  unveiled an all new collection at SIHH in January, and with seven different versions just hitting stores now. Aptly named the Harmony collection, the watches  are  inspired   by the past, but with an eye to the future. The cushion shape is derived from a chronograph the brand first introduced back in 1928, yet the renditions are timeless. Making the series even more alluring is the fact that the new watches are ultra thin and — like all Vacheron Constantin watches — meticulously finished. Harmony boasts five…

Does Your Watch have Knights with Swords Standing at Attention? Introducing the Roger Dubuis Excalibur Knights of the Round Table II

 |  May 29th, 2015

Legend has it that there was no one more noble than the knights who sat at the round table with King Arthur in Camelot. Having vowed to protect the weak and humble the proud, this symbolic round table contained no head to ensure all those present sat there as equals. As defenders, noblemen, and courageously wise knights, the round table exemplified the chivalrous qualities of strength, discipline, and steadfastness. This year Roger Dubuis has created an exquisite timepiece that embodies those essential qualities and has appropriately dubbed it Excalibur Knights at the Round Table II. The brand has already interpreted the Round Table with a version that was released in 2013. However this year’s re-iteration displays an entirely new level…

Suck it Up, Guys. This One is for the Women: Introducing the Audemars Piguet Diamond Punk

 |  April 23rd, 2015

It isn’t every day someone calls you a punk and you are proud of it … especially if you are a luxury watch company. However, Audemars Piguet is proud of the term — since the brand just unveiled its Diamond Punk secret watch earlier this year in two breathtaking renditions. These watches recently made their way to the US market and made quite a splash. Crafted in 18-karat white gold with bold angular appeal, the cuff Haute Joaillerie timepieces are ensconced in in thousands of diamonds that form the case and bracelet. There are even another 300 diamonds on the hidden dial. The watch, a brainchild of head of the brand Francois Bennahmias, takes its inspiration from the Punk era and…
