With Father’s day coming this Sunday, ATimelyPerspective dedicates the week to exceptional watches for Dad. Today, we are taking a close-up look at the Jaeger-LeCoultre Duometre Collection of watches that are all about high-tech complexity.

Not a new collection, the Duometre line has been around for some years. This year, however, Jaeger-LeCoultre unveils several new models in rich rose gold with dark gray dials that are visually arresting.

Essentially, the Duometre watches house a revolutionize movement with Dual-Wing® concept, wherein two independent mechanisms are united by a single regulating organ to give the watch unparalleled performance and accuracy. One mechanism ensures that all of the watch’s complications function correctly, while the other mechanism ensures the accuracy of the timekeeping functions.

Included in the Duometre lineup are the famed Duometre Spherotourbillon, the Duometre Chronograph and the Duometre Quantieme Lunaire. The latter two versions incorporate a foudroyante “jumping seconds” function (a dedicated hand that measures time to fractions of a second) that enables timing to the nearest one-sixth of a second.

The newest Duometre watches unveiled earlier this year and making their way to stores now all feature gray dials. Powered by the brand’s in-house-made Caliber 380, the Jaaeger-LeCoultre Duometre Chronograph features on gear train for timekeeping and a second for the chronograph functions, which time to the aforementioned 1/6th of second. Because of the Dual-Wing concept, each function has its own barrel that offers 50 hours of power reserve. Crafted in 18-karat 5N rose gold, the 42mm watch offers stunning contrast between dial and case. It retails for $44,500.

Similarly, the Duometre Quantieme Lunaire is crafted in 5N rose gold with the gray dial. This watch offers calendar functions including date and moonphase indication. Powered by the Caliber 381, the 42mm watch offers rose gold applied numerals and gold-plated hands. It is sold with a dark brown alligator strap. The Duometre Quantieme Lunaire retails for $39,100 in rose gold.

Finally, Jaeger-LeCoultre also equips the beloved 42mm Duometre Spherotourbillon 18-karat 5N rose gold version with the same dark gray dial. The watch houses the manual-wind Caliber 382 with tourbillon with a dedicated seconds hand that can be stopped on demand. Each of these new versions offers classic elegance and sophisticated allure. Price of the Duometre Spherotourbillon is on request.
