New HM Perpetual Moon from Arnold & Son

Arnold & Son Perpetual Moon Modern

Arnold & Son Perpetual Moon Modern

This pre-BaselWorld release is a true beauty. New from Arnold & Son is the amazingly beautiful  HM Perpetual Moon. One of the most alluring and precise moonphase watches on the market, the 42mm HM Perpetual Moon also features one of the largest moonphase apertures (with a moonphase disc that is 29mm and a moon that is 11.2mm). Part of the Royal Collection (that pays tribute to John Arnold’s early life when he crated watches for King George III and the Royal Court), the HM Perpetual Moon features a rich guilloche’ dial with a three –dimensional big moon. The sculptured moon was first hand engraved and then duplicated for the series. The guilloche dial is – in this case – mesmerizing thanks to the blue transparent lacquer finish on it.

Offered in steel or in18-karat 5N rose gold, the HM Perpetual Moon houses the Arnold & Son mechanical hand-wound caliber A&S1512, with a moon accuracy that deviates by just one day every 122 years – at which point a single push on a corrector keeps it on course for another 122 years.  Equipped with a double barrel, the watch offers 80 hours of power reserve. It should be noted that the moon phase in this model is not simply a module added to the movement, but, in fact, is fully integrated into the calibre. The watch also has a unique easy-to-set feature

thanks to the ingenious addition of a second moon indication installed at the back of the movement. This second moon display, visible via a transparent case back, features a graduated dial and a pointer hand that allows for a more exact setting. Three versions are being offered: the Elegant in 18-karat rose gold with an incredible blue guilloché dial in a stylized sunray pattern, blue guilloché moon disc with golden stars and the hand-engraved moon; the Classic – in 18k rose gold with a cream-colored dial, blue guilloché moon disc with golden stars and the hand-engraved moon and the Modern – created in stainless steel with a black guilloché dial, black guilloché moon disc (shown above and  retailing for 15,120 Swiss Francs).
